Thank you for your interest in Victory Montessori & Childcare. We are a ministry of Victory Church and serve the community by caring for children. Our childcare center offers care for six week olds through kindergarten.
Our childcare program is a year round program and our Montessori school is on a school year schedule. Our center is liscensed by the Colorado Department of Social Services. We have been in operation since 1990.
The Childcare
Vision
Our vision is to provide a safe Christian environment that will meet the needs of your children and challenge them spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally. We do this through a structured curriculum. Each classroom has a strong early childhood basis and is developmentally appropriate for the age levels we serve. Lesson plans are implemented in classrooms from age two through Pre-Kindergarten. We teach Christian values by daily devotions, music, Bible stories and modeling. Our desire is to see children achieve on the levels that the Lord has designed for them.
Programs
We have several programs available to parents.
Infants
We offer full time care in two separate infant rooms in our center. Our infant staff provides a nuturing environment to meet the emotional, physical and spiritual development of the children. The transition between Infant I and Infant 2 is based on the ability of the child. When a child is able to hold him/herself up (usually around 6-8 months) they are transitioned to the Infant 2 room. When the child is one year old and walking, eating table food and showing sings of toddler behavior they will be transitioned to the toddler one room.
Toddlers
We offer full time care in three toddler rooms which are separated by age groups. The toddler curriculum consists of age appropriate child development activities in the areas of sensory, fine motor and gross motor. Because the children are approaching a stage of autonomy, many activities are planned to enhance individuality and independence. Much care, consideration and concern is given to the children during this development stage. Our Toddler I room serves children 12 months and walking to 18 months. Toddler 2 room offers care for children 18 months to 24 months. Toddler 3 cares for children 24 months through 2 1/2. As children progress through the classrooms, activities beomce more challenging.
Primary
Our primary class is designed to transition our toddlers into a Montessori atmosphere. This classroom allows older toddlers to perfect their potty training. Montessori concepts are introduced and the children in this class begin to choose their own activities. The children are learning to sit in a group and not become distracted. They will participate in learning colors, shapes and returning work to its proper place. Practical life and other fine motor skills will be introduced (spooning and pouring). This is a great introduction to our Montessori program and allows your child to be prepared for their next stage of development.
Teachers
The head teachers in all of our classrooms are group leader qualified by the state of Colorado. All teachers are Infant/Child CPR certified, First Aid certified and required to take a universal precautions class annually. They also participate in childcare conferences throughout the year.
The Montessori
The Montessori Curriculum
The Montessori curriculum was first designed by Maria Montessori in Italy. She believed materials should be self-correcting, didactic, sensorial, and conceptual.
Some of the materials would include:
Nesting or stacking cups, rings, or blocks (self-correcting)
Rough and smooth boards and fabrics (didactic and sensorial)
Sound or scent bottles (sensorial)
Sandpaper letters and numbers (sensorial and conceptual)
Our Montessori Classroom
Our Montessori classroom is a small multiage classroom for up to 25 children. The ages range from two and a half, through five and a half years of age. In the calssroom environment, we will begin to teach children respect for themselves, others, and their environment. The classroom's objective is to allow the children to grow into bright, creative
The Morning
Our morning starts with the children in group time. During this time we sing songs, listen to music, and read stories. Also during this time the current subjects of study are discussed and new activities are presented.
Work Period
During the work period the children are free to choose a wide variety of activites. These include practical life, art, math, reading, science, music, geography, sensorial, and manipulatives.
Kindergarten
After lunch the five-year-olds gather for the Montessori extended day program. They work on more advanced activities until the day ends at 3:30 p.m. This time includes more advanced writing skills, detailed unit studies, advanced math, and advanced reading skills.
